Perspective

Lately, I have been hunkering down with tri training and work, both have kept me very busy lately and on a tight shift, not to mention the little “set-backs” like getting sick or recovering from an injury. However, when I read messages like these it reminds me to step back and keep perspective on life as a whole- not just triathlon, not just work, but everything.

It’s a nice reminder that I have a choice over what I believe about my life, myself, and my seemingly “set backs.” Sometimes it can be as simple as becoming aware of our first thought or reaction and stopping to ask ourselves…is that really true? where did that belief come from? what belief would make me feel better, more validated, and more at peace? and then like training, practicing the new belief or thought or reaction over and over until it becomes your new perspective. You can’t change what you are not aware of, so once you are aware if becomes your job to realize a better reality.

Like training, changing our beliefs about ourselves takes practice, commitment, energy, awareness, and a deep determination to keep doing it even when you think you are not getting results. Have faith that you are fully equipped to deal with whatever is coming your way and to figure out how to make that moment, and subsequent moments, better feeling. Just like the message indicates, it’s all for YOUR GOOD it’s all for YOUR GROWTH. It’s not what you are going through, but what you are growing to.

Keep reaching for your peak….
