On a recent talk with India.Arie and Oprah, India said she asked herself, “What would I do if I knew I was 100% worthy of this?” What a profound question! In Louise Hay’s book “You Can Heal Your Life” one of her philosophy points is “The bottom line for everyone is, “I’m not good enough.”
I know this may be a difficult concept to consider for yourself, but over and over in my work with students, athletes, and professionals most of the fear, anxiety, stress, and depression lead to the belief of “I don’t feel good enough or worthy enough.” I admit struggling with my fair share of this belief and having to confront it in many areas of my life.
You see this core belief of “I’m not good enough” is sneaky. It hides out in behaviors of avoidance, perfectionism, excuses or blame, egoism, selfishness, and feelings of shame, embarrassment, or anxiety, to name a few. But it does not have to hide forever and what you bring to the light you soon find out is the shadow of your strength.
What if this weekend you challenged yourself to meet one challenge with the thought “I am 100% worthy of this____________ (lifestyle change, race result, outfit, best performance, job, school, team, relationship, manicure, bike, etc.)! Really commit to owning it and saying it out loud with passion, feeling, ownership, and expectancy! Say it several times a day, every day. Take it a step further and write little notes and put them up around your home that state your worthy intention. Because guess what?……….YOU REALLY ARE WORTHY! YOU REALLY ARE ENOUGH!
Shine on my friends, we need your worthy light in this world:) Have a great weekend!
