It’s a little over a month until IM Austin 70.3 and my hubby and I had an intense trainer session scheduled for tonight. I have to admit that my motivation level was running a little low. I had already put in an intense speed set in the pool at morning masters and wondered if I had left all my motivation there this AM. Regardless of my mood I was committed to getting it done. I had to remind myself, as I tell my clients many times, “Don’t allow your emotions determine your decisions. Don’t let them get in the drivers seat.” So we hopped on our trainers put music on and started our session. I love that my husband lets me decide the station and I always go for the house music/dance/electronic station. Usually it gets me pumped but tonight it was coming along slowly…that is until this song came on “Blessed -Tom Hangs ft. Shermanology (Avicii Edit).” That moment my energy shot up and overpowered me and I began to hammer out the intervals. It was not just the beat but the lyrics were speaking to me. Reminding me that I am choosing to do this. I am blessed to be able to do this. I am blessed to be able to wake up in the morning. I am blessed to be healthy, strong, and have a loving husband right next to me. I am blessed to be where I am at exactly this moment in life. I am blessed for so many reasons.

For me music serves so many purposes in my life. Music is my therapy, my motivation, my comfort. Anyone that knows me knows that I always have a song lyric to apply to every situation or recommend a song that can heal, motivate, inspire, or provide comfort. My hope for you all is to have something in your life that provides that same feeling and inspiration as I get from music. Something that provides that encouragement when you need it and reminds you of how blessed you really are.
