What do you have to lose?

Hey there, I know there is something on your mind. It is about that change you want to make in your life. My question is…what do you have to lose?

That voice in your head says “What will they think if I…”

What do you have to lose if someone in your life has a negative opinion on your life. Because in the end they don’t have the power, YOUR power. Opinion does not equal power (if you don’t let it). And people that truly love and support you will be okay with your changing i.e. healthy boundaries, healthy relationships.

That voice says “What if I fail?”

Failure can equal learning. Everything that we do is “feedback,” some stuff works, some stuff does not. Trial and error is what living in the human experience is all about, and the adventure of life 😉 Can you image how boring life would be if we got it right EVERYTIME?! Ick!

That voice says “What if I make the wrong decision?”

You don’t have a crystal ball to know how things are going to work out. We never really know if our decision are the “right” decisions. All you know is that your inner voice, that lil nagging voice that wants you to take a risk, is telling you to take the steps, and do the thing. And guess what, you can always make another decision if that decision does not end up being the right one for you.

I could go on and on with reasons to challenge the fearful-scared-non-risk-taking voice in your head that is telling you to hold back on making those changes. BUT guess what? You can trust yourself. You can trust that inner voice that wants you to go for it! You can trust that life is about changing, growing, and evolving. Most of us want stability, so we control our outer lives and attempt to control people, situations and things to find stability. However, I want to challenge you to think of stability as abiding self-trust in yourself amongst the ever changing life circumstances.

With anything in life (other than the things are self-destructive and harmful) most of the risk is just that, risk. It’s a word. It’s an idea, but it’s not truth. You know the truth of what you need to do and the boss moves you need to make in life. So go for it! Life is short. This is not a dress rehearsal, it’s the real thing and it should feel like a badass adventure.

Happy New Year and Keep Shining Beautiful People,

Dr. G
