Out of the Darkness Campus Walk 04.09.20

Attention Hornet Athletics Fam!

Sac State’s 9th Annual Out of the Darkness Campus Walk for suicide prevention will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9th at The WELL.

By registering, WE are showing support for survivors, students at risk, and people who have been affected by suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for student-athletes. Mental health is an important factor in student-athlete success, we would love to see you all supporting the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk! Sac State has hosted the largest campus walk in the nation for 3 years in a row and look to host the largest walk in the United States again this year.

Here is how you can join the upcoming event and provide support for suicide prevention:

1.      Registering YOUR TEAM of 10 or more participants by March 1st and you can receive your team logo on the back of the official 2020 Out of the Darkness Campus Walk shirt.

2.      Participants can register at www.afsp.org/csus . Please feel free to invite your friends, family members, peers to join your team. The event is open to the community as well.

3.      Pass along this email to your fellow, friends and family members to join in the walk and efforts to prevent suicide. For individuals unable to attend the event but would like to provide support, please feel free to register as a Virtual Walker.

4.      Standing Together, Never Alone – sharing your story with personal experience with suicide as a survivor or care-taker can generate hope and healing for others. Interested in speaking at the upcoming event, please feel free to contact Lara.Falkenstein@csus.edu  for more information.

We could not do this without you and we hope you will join us in these efforts to continue to have the largest campus walk in the United States to promote the importance of the conversation of suicide prevention.
