<-“Livestrong” shoes all muddied up from today’s run.
Today, I woke up and saw that it was rainy, cloudy, a bit windy, and cool. My husband went swimming and I was still trying to figure out what I going to do for a workout today. Hit the gym? treadmill? stair stepper? as I drank my coffee and relaxed for a bit until I figured my mind out one of my mantas crossed my mind “if now now..when?” I thought to myself, “ya know what, I have no excuse today. I have the gear, I’m up, and I need to get my miles outside in.” I got myself together…base layer, waterproof/wind proof jacket, tights, ipod, hat, gloves, and some gel. As I started my run in the park I began to feel exhilarated and challenged by the conditions (just a couple of weeks before I ran the US Half-Marathon in San Francisco in straight downpours! ). I felt good, warm, and strong and as the rain came hard I went stronger, felt looser, and hungry to run more. I kept going until my turnaround and as I was preparing to wrap up my miles I thought to my self…days like these used to keep me from running, now they are the very thing that makes me wants to run. Not only am I challenging myself everytime I go out to run but when I see days like this is make my want to rise higher….So from now view the seemingly “obstacles” as opportunities to rise to a new and higher level….
One of my favorite quotes:
It’s very hard to understand in the beginning that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants to quit.~Dr. George Sheehan
Until next time..Keep rising:)
