Team K & G Celebrates 2 years of Wedded Bliss.

It’s been two years since Ken and I  (Team K & G) were united in body, mind, spirit, and commitment before God. I can honestly say that we have become true partners, best friends, honest critics, and our biggest cheerleaders. Before Ken and I even met back in 2008, we prayed for one another. We went through life hoping, wishing, and praying for someone who would enter our paths and share in similar hopes, dreams, and values. I remember being in graduate school hoping, wishing, and, in the meantime, making the wrong decisions in dating, trying to make someone fit my path. As I look back, I see that I was trying to force something (an outcome) that wasn’t meant to be for my life at that time. There is a difference between what you “want” and what you “need.” I truly believe that God’s plan and preparation for my life has ALWAYS been about positioning me to receive the best good for my life at the right time, and so it is with sports. Sometimes we do all the right things, at all the right times, and do not get the outcome we expect. That does not mean that there was something wrong, or that there was something wrong with you, but it means that there is a greater lesson, greater blessing, and greater good to come. I know this to be true because I have lived it. I believe in faith, I believe in timing, I believe in love, and I believe that no effort is ever lost. I truly believe that life works for us in our highest good, so no matter what happens in life the affirmative power (God, Universe, Source, Buddha, Yahweh, Jehovah, etc.) is always behind it to bring you the best and most loving blessings for your life. The key is to shift your perspective in a way that you are in a position to receive it. If I had to offer one piece of advice, it would be to not get stuck on the “how” of something happing but believe in the “when” of things happening.

Today I celebrate the gift of love, connection, union, and having a teammate that I share in life, love, and happiness.

Here is a poem I dedicated to my husband that I share with you.

“Love” By Roy Croft

I love you,
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.

I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.

I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;

I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can’t help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.

I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.
You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself.
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all.
